Journey Land is a Bible-centered, interactive curriculum for Grades 1st – 6th that teaches biblical stories/themes and principles in monthly rotations that include HIStory/Memory Makers, Theater / Listen Up, Play Station, and Truth Lab / Gifted Hands. At the Deep River Church of Christ, children walk (journey) through the Bible each Sunday and Wednesday on a monthly rotation beginning with Genesis and journeying through the Bible in a three year cycle. Each workshop/class focuses on the theme of the month, life application, and God’s plan for man’s salvation. HIStory/Memory Makers introduces children to the biblical holy lands and geography via maps, timelines, storytelling and includes a discussion of the culture of those times. Through the Theater rotation children become intimately familiar with biblical events and scriptural principles by re-enacting the many events in the Bible. Listen Up nurtures musical interest by introducing songs while Play Station help children learn memory verses and biblical facts in a workshop full of interactive games and activities. Truth Lab instills long-term knowledge of “life” principles grounded in scripture while Gifted Hands allow children an opportunity to create projects, prepare meals typical of the day, and other artistic activities to reinforce their knowledge of the Bible.
