Our Ministries
Benevolence/Compassion Ministry
The Benevolence Ministry has been established to provide financial assistance with a spiritual focus to the members of the Deep River congregation and people in the High Point area, when such assistance is likely to be effective in helping a long term solution to his or her difficulty.
The assistance is primarily for the purpose of providing food, shelter, and clothing.
Galatians 6:10 encompasses the focus of this ministry. “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”

More InformationDay In The Park
Day in the Park is an annual festival presented by the High Point Arts Council. It is held on the 3rd Saturday in September at City Lake Park. It is a full day of family activities, entertainment, food, and more.
Deep River operates a booth every year with information about our church family. We distribute biblical study materials and just meet and talk with people. We have the opportunity to connect with approximately 8,000 people who pass through the park on this day.
More InformationDorcas Ministry
The purpose of the Dorcas ministry is to use our hands for good works, making items to fill needs that have been identified both within and outside of the Deep River family. In filling those needs, we hope to bring people closer to our Lord by providing items that will let the recipients know they are loved by the Lord and the Deep River family. Dorcas participants sew quilts for children entering foster care thru both Agape and the Guilford County Department of Social Services - quilts that remain with the child forever to remind them they are loved. Comfort quilts and prayer shawls are made for members of the congregation and their families that are experiencing loss, severe illness, or life changing traumas.
Comfort Quilts are also made to support the mission to minister to and testify to individuals in ICU. Quilts are also made and sent to areas needing disaster relief. Winter scarves are crocheted and knitted to distribute to area homeless. Receiving blankets, carrier bags, baby mittens and articles of clothing are sewn for the Ship of Life mission in Cambodia. Pillowcases are produced for those in Hospice Care.
Within the congregation, Dorcas members sew items as needed - items as diverse as baptismal garments, puppet costumes for Lads to Leaders, Bible story costumes, curtains, and art aprons for the Journey Land children's education program, and kitchen aprons for congregational fellowships.
